The Washington Navy Yard has a lot of history dating back over 200 years. The development of the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood, which encompasses the Navy Yard, has added tons of new restaurants, shops, businesses, and residents. One of those restaurants, Nando’s Peri Peri, has a lot of history as well but more importantly they have delicious food.

History

Nando’s Peri Peri was once a tasty little eatery in South Africa. The restaurant was founded in 1987 and has grown worldwide to over 35 countries and 1,000 locations. The secret to their yummy chicken based menu is the spices of the African Bird’s Eye Chili, or Peri-Peri. Since 2008, Nando’s Peri Peri has been serving up spicy Portuguese dishes to the residents of DC, lighting a fire in the bellies of all who indulge themselves.
