Hi there! We’re so excited to be welcoming you as a new resident here at The Collective. There are a few things we’d like to share with you to ensure that the days leading up to your move through your first few days here are as stress-free and seamless as possible. Here’s everything you need to know.
Park Chelsea Residents:
The First Few Steps
1) Sign The Lease
By now, whether you filled out your application online or in person, you should have received your lease via email. Please either login to or create a login for the Resident Portal. From there, you’ll be able to sign and submit your lease. This is also where you’ll be able to make payments, submit maintenance requests, and more.
2) Schedule Your Move
In order to provide a smooth moving experience for everyone, we will be reaching out to you to book a date and time for your move. This timeslot will be your opportunity to use the loading dock and freight elevator. Certain dates and days of the week are more popular than others, so if you do not hear from us soon, please reach out to confirm that your desired move date is available. Move-in times are Monday – Sunday from 8:00am – 8:00pm.
3) Request Parking and Storage
If you have not already reserved a parking space in the garage but would like to do so now, please let us know. Parking ranges from $175-$200 / month depending on where your assigned space is located in the garage. We will also have bike storage. Please note that bikes are not allowed in the common areas or corridors so if you have one (or more), please let us know and we will assign you a space in the garage. Use of the hanging bike racks in our secure bike room is free (though you’ll still need to be assigned a space) and private bike lockers will be $25/month.
Pre-Move Set Up
Now that you’ve taken care of signing your lease, booking the loading dock for moving day and reserving any desired parking and storage space, there are a few more things you’ll want to have checked off the list well before your move date.
1) Update Your Address
Now is the best time to head over to USPS.com to schedule your change of address. As your move date approaches, it is easy to let tasks like this get lost in the shuffle. Don’t wait until after your move to do this or some of your mail delivery could be missed or delayed. Your new address is:
880 New Jersey Ave SE
Washington, DC 20003
*don’t forget to include your apartment number
2) Set Up Your Utilities
For Electric service, please contact PEPCO at (202) 833-7500.
For Cable and Internet providers, you have 2 options:
Comcast
Our Comcast rep is Selena Lewis and she can be reached at (240) 397-3677 or selena_lewis@comcast.com.
Verizon Fios
Our Verizon rep is Donald Meyers and he can be reached at (301) 337-5822 or dmeyers@vec-agent.com.
3) Reserve The Loading Dock
If you have not yet heard from us to schedule your move-in date and timeslot, please email or call the leasing center at (202) 848-1630 before you book your moving company. As we mentioned above, certain dates and days of the week are more heavily booked, so the sooner we schedule your time slot, the better. Again, move-in times are Monday – Sunday from 8:00am – 8:00pm.
4) Setup Your ButterflyMX Account
ButterflyMX is the system we use to allow you to buzz in your guests and visitors at the front door. You have the option to use the system through their app which you can download here for Android or download here for Apple, or simply use with any phone number. When using the app, you’ll have the ability to view live video of who is requesting access and buzz them in, or you can simply have the system ring to your cell phone or landline in which case you’ll simply press 9 to buzz them in.
A few days before your move-in, your information should be added to the system by one of our leasing agents. Once you’ve been associated with an apartment number, you’ll be able to sign up for an account here using the email you used during your application process.
Once set up, you’ll receive a text with contact info: save this to your contacts so you’ll know when the front door is calling!
5) Move-in Orientation
By now you should have scheduled a move-in orientation to go over moving rules/regulations and any final questions you may have about your upcoming move. If you haven’t already, please reach out to your leasing consultant to schedule a move-in orientation 1-3 days prior to your move!
Rules For Moving Day
1) Picking Up Your Keys
Provided that your balance is paid in full, your keys may be picked up after 5pm the day before your move. If you’d prefer to pick up your keys on the same day as your move, be sure to make time prior to your loading dock reservation to do so.
2) Loading Dock
You have a dedicated time slot in which you’ll have access to the loading dock and freight elevator. Please be mindful of the fact that there may be multiple other move-in on the same day as your move, so arriving promptly at the beginning of your time slot will help ensure the loading dock is cleared and ready in time for the next move-in. If you are running behind or anticipate missing your time slot, please notify us immediately by calling the Leasing Center at (202) 848-1630. While we do our best to make accommodations, we are not responsible for additional costs incurred if your movers go over their allotted time or have to reschedule.
The loading dock is located on 2nd St SE. This is where you will unload all of your furniture and boxes. The best address to plug into your GPS or to give your movers is 825 2nd St SE, Washington, DC 20003.
3) Furniture Deliveries
A new apartment often means new furniture! If you plan to have furniture delivered to the building, please note that we cannot accept any deliveries prior to your move-in date. Furniture deliveries will also need to be scheduled with the Front Desk/Office and follow the same time restrictions as the loading dock/freight elevator.
4) Bulk Trash
With new furniture comes the disposing of old furniture. Please understand that we cannot accommodate any bulk trash so be sure to dispose of anything you do not want to keep prior to your move. Goodwill will pick up your unwanted furniture and other donations from your current location but demand is high so be sure to call a couple of weeks in advance. If at any point you need to dispose of large items or furniture please coordinate the removal with the front desk and management office – there may be fees associated with this service.
5) Cardboard Boxes
Once you’re all moved in, we’re sure you’ll have plenty of cardboard boxes to dispose of. Please DO NOT use the chute in trash and recycling room on your floor to dispose of the boxes. They will get stuck and clog the chute! There is a dedicated bin in the loading dock and we ask that you use this for large boxes both while you’re unpacking and down the line when you have large boxes delivered. For smaller delivery box disposal, you will find a bin in the refuse room on each floor for your convenience.
Other Things To Know For Moving Day
Now that we’ve gotten some of the rules out of the way, we wanted to fill you in on a few things about the building and neighborhood to help you enjoy your first few days in your new apartment.
Come as prepared as possible for your move, but know that we will have some extra hand trucks available in the loading dock for your convenience.
Upon move-in, if you have any immediate maintenance issues that need addressing, please alert the concierge immediately by calling (202) 848-1640.
Neighborhood Resources
If we had to guess, we’d bet that the last thing you’ll want to think about on your first night is unpacking those pots and pans and cooking! Here are a few restaurants close by that provide take-out.
Too tired to get off the couch? Here’s a list of places that deliver.
Need an ATM to tip the movers, your friends or the delivery driver? Here are some in the neighborhood.
Can’t find the toothpaste or need an extra roll of paper towels? There’s a CVS right down the street for all of your last minute needs.
Using The Resident Portal
Now that you’re fully prepared for moving day, let’s get you familiar with the Resident Portal. By now, you should have created an account in order to sign your lease. This account will be used to make payments, set-up recurring payments and submit maintenance requests. You may access the Resident Portal any time here.
Making Payments
Once logged in, click “Payments” to make a payment and set up payment accounts. You’ll also have the option to set up auto payments, which will deduct from your payment method of choice each month on the day of your choosing.
Submitting A Maintenance Request
Once logged in, click “Maintenance Request” then fill out the form describing the issue and attach photos to help illustrate the area of concern. Once you’ve submitted your request, you’ll receive a confirmation via email.
Downloading The Collective App
As many of you know (and have seen in your inboxes) The Collective App is a tool that allows us to do things like notify you when you have a package and inform you of upcoming community events. It also allows you, as residents, to do things like leave instructions for the front desk regarding visitors and post free or for-sale items to the virtual resident bulletin board.
