Meet The Garrett’s Assistant Community Manager, Melissa Kopecky. Melissa heads up all resident relations for The Garrett as well as oversees the Collective CoWork space. To get to know Melissa a little more, we asked her some questions about her favorite parts of being part of The Collective team, as well as DC as a whole.
How did you end up in DC?
I was born and raised in Northern Virginia have lived in many neighborhoods in NOVA and in Maryland, so it was only natural that the Nation’s Capitol was my next move!
What 3 words would you use to describe The Collective?
Revolutionary, bold, and inspirational.
How do you think life at The Collective allows residents to thrive?
Life at The Collective is one of a kind. The community has an empowering feeling when you combine all it has to offer into one – “your home”. The countless amenity spaces, the many fitness classes and resident events, the in-apartment finishes, the team and more will set your lifestyle up for success.
If you were a resident, what would your perfect day at The Collective look like?
My perfect day at the collective would start with a cup of coffee from the lobby, getting some work done in the Collective Work (CoWork) space, then heading to the Agora pool to enjoy some relaxation while having some of the best views Washington D.C. has to offer.
If you were to work from home, which Collective space would you choose?
I would absolutely utilize the CoWork space located above The Garrett Lobby. This space has a modern yet cozy take on a professional environment. It provides just the perfect amount of space from your work and your home.
Where do you head for happy hour in the Capitol Riverfront?
My favorite place to happy hour is Smoke and Mirrors. The runner up would be Pink Taco.
What’s your favorite restaurant in the neighborhood and what do you order?
So far, my favorite restaurant is CIRCA Navy Yard. You have to start with shot gun shrimp for an appetizer and then get blackened Atlantic salmon for the entre.
When you’re not working at The Collective, where can we find you?
You could find me in my apartment with a glass of red wine and working on a painting.
