Walking around the Capitol Riverfront in the last couple of months, you’ve probably noticed a few changes happening to the neighborhood. We’ve been anxiously and not so patiently awaiting the opening of multiple restaurants and retail spaces, and with summer nearing, the wait is almost over: at least for a few. Here’s what has opened recently, and what we can expect to open in the next few months!
Orange Theory
This super popular fitness studio offers a unique and intense workout in an energetic group setting. Heart rate monitored training and coach support create a unique blend between independent workouts and group classes. Just in time for summer, Orange Theory has opened their newest location right across the street from Park Chelsea at 82 I St SE. Learn more about membership here.
Slipstream
The original location of this coffee shop and cocktail bar in the Shaw neighborhood was so successful that owners Ryan and Miranda decided to open a second location right here in the Capitol Riverfront, and we’re so glad they did. Unique and thoughtfully crafted coffee drinks, cocktails and plates are what you can expect to find here. Be sure not to leave your phone at home: this is definitely one of the most Instagrammable spots in the neighborhood!
Whaley’s Rosé Garden
The already amazing Whaley’s Raw Bar & Restaurant upped the ante this year by adding a Rosé Garden to their patio. That’s right – all the fun of a beer garden, with the delicious, sweet summer goodness of rosé: 10 different varieties, to be exact. Visitors can also enjoy frozen drinks, ice cold beer, and a special menu of snacks all while surrounded by an absolutely enchanting pink and white motif.
CHOPT
If you’re looking for a fresh and healthy lunch in the neighborhood there are already a couple of great options to choose from, but the addition of CHOPT is a welcome one. Serving up made-to-order salads, grain bowls, and noodle bowls with unique and creative toppings, CHOPT makes eating a salad for lunch a little more fun.
Salt Line
Waterfront dining just begs for a seaside theme, and Salt Line nails it with their New England inspired decor and cuisine. Whether you’re a New Englander looking for a taste of home or a local who wants to see what all the fuss is about, Salt Line is sure to hit the spot.
Shake Shack
This super popular burger and shake chain opened up their Capitol Riverfront location this spring just a couple of blocks from the ballpark. All of the usual suspects can be found here: burgers, hot dogs, fries, and milkshakes – but all are done in an elevated way. The custard based shakes and concretes are a customer favorite and a notch above your basic shake. You can even pick up a treat for your dog off of the “woof” menu!
