Opening Day at Nationals Park

What: Baseball season officially returns to the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood on Thursday, April 5th with a home opener against the New York Mets. The first 25,000 fans through the gate will receive a free 2018 schedule t-shirt. Can’t make it on Thursday? They will play on Saturday at 1:05 pm and Sunday at 8:08 pm.

Due South Dockside Home Opener Party

What: Due South Dockside will celebrate the start of baseball season with their own opening. Enjoy a full bar, delicious eats, and a beautiful view at Due South’s pop-up on the Yards Park Boardwalk. Ashley Nickles from Mix 107.3 will be broadcasting the Nationals Home Opener live from Dockside.

Declaration Grand Opening

What: Declaration, a local gourmet pizza restaurant, is opening its doors in the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood! The new location will be larger and have a more extensive menu than the original Declaration located in the Shaw neighborhood. In addition to gourmet pizza, charcuterie, sandwiches, brunch, happy hour, and more will be served.

Aslin Beer Garden Opening

What: Aslin Beer Company’s pop up beer garden is opening in the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood just in time for the Nationals home opener. Starting this Thursday, the beer garden will open for Nationals home games – hours will be posted daily, but will typically be two hours before and two hours after home games. Starting as early as May, they will open for non-game days as well.

Opening Day at The Bullpen

What: Cheer on the Nationals during their home opener at The Bullpen. There will be a pregame show from Sean Geiser and a postgame show the DCeivers. Enjoy grilled hot dogs, Bayou Daq Shack daiquiris, barbeque from the Due South Food Truck, $5 drinks during the third through the 7th inning, and more.

Morini Piccolo Opening

What: Osteria Morini is expanding dockside! In addition to their Water St. location, Morini Piccolo, an Italian snack stand, will open on the Yards Park Boardwalk. A variety of drinks and snacks will be available, including Frozen Negroni, draught wine, Italian cheese + charcuterie, and fresh paninis. While the official opening is on Friday, they will be serving free cold brew coffee on Thursday from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm for the Nats home opener.
